Mother's Day

This is definitely belated but I can't not write a post about my first Mother's Day!

A couple weeks before Mother's Day M asked me what I wanted for a gift. I originally told him a food processor, but after one particularly horrible night where I was up several times with Bear I (jokingly) texted him that I wanted diamonds. Well the joke was on me because shortly after I woke up M presented me with a box that very obviously contained some sort of jewelry. It was a beautiful diamond bracelet. He actually got me diamonds! Of course I felt horrible because I guilted my boyfriend into getting me a very pricey piece of jewelry when we have all kinds of other things that that money could have gone towards. I was also worried that I would never be able to wear it because Bear is always yanking on any necklace or earrings I try to wear. I told M that I couldn't accept it and that I would be happy to return it for a less expensive (diamondless), sturdier piece of jewelry that Bear couldn't destroy. He said he understood but I think he was still a little hurt.

The moral of this story is that I am a crazy-ass bitch because the moment the bracelet left the house to be returned the next day I felt like I NEEDED it back. I called M who yelled at me to "quit playing mind games with him". I cried and M brought the bracelet home to me that evening.

The bracelet that caused all the trouble

Back to Mother's day..

We recently joined a golf club (because M likes to golf and I like to lay (lie?) next to pools in the sun) which was hosting a Mother's Day brunch, so we decided to make reservations. I started out with a delicious bloody Mary and then moved on to shrimp, crab legs, about 4 different kinds of meat, and a few red velvet pancakes topped with caramel apples. YUM. Unfortunately Bear was not in a great mood due to missing his morning nap, but luckily M and I could both probably do pretty well in speed eating competitions, so we stuffed our faces and left. The rest of the day was spent hanging out and relaxing at home.

Overall, an awesome first Mother's Day. I only wish that we lived a little closer to family so that I could have seen my own mom. I am the mom that I am today because of her. She is my rock and the first person I call when I have a question about Bear. If I turn out to be even half the mom that she was to me, I know we'll be just fine.

  2. Thank you! I was dying when I came across it in the pictures. The face paired with the fact that he looks like he is trying to sit up super straight was just too much!
